Curriculum

Ádám was born in 1985 in Zalaegerszeg, Hungary. From 2005 he studied at the Institute for Music “Varga Tibor” of the “Széchenyi István” University in Győr, Hungary. In 2008 he won the second prize with his trombone quartett at the Hungarian National Competition for Brass Chamber Music. In 2009 he received his Bachelor’s degree in chamber music and trombone teaching.

From 2009 Ádám studied historical trombones at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis (Basel, Switzerland) with Prof. Charles Toet. In 2010 he participated in the Summer Academy from the Netherlands Youth Orchestra, under the direction of Richard Egarr, the Academy’s last concert took place at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. He received the Hungarian National Eötvös-Scholarship in 2011 for studying the life and works of Thomas Stoltzer and in 2012 finished his master studies in Basel.

Ádám is a teacher for trombone at the Music School of Weil am Rhein (Musikschule der Stadt Weil am Rhein) since 2016, and teacher of low-brass instruments at the Musikvereins Grenzach (D), Inzlingen (D) and Bottmingen (CH).

In 2020 he started a new adventure as conductor at the Musikverein Haltingen (D).

As a freelance trombonist he is performing throughout Europe. He has worked with (among others) the following artists and ensembles:

Richard Egarr, Hervé Niquet, Andrea Marcon, Vaclav Luks, Dominique Vellard, Bruce Dickey, Ensemble Il Desiderio,  Collegium 1704 (Prague), Les Passions de l’Âme (Bern), L’arpa festante (München), Capriccio Barock (CH), La Cetra Barockorchester (Basel), Cantus Firmus vokalensemble & consort (Solothurn), Ensemble Responsorium (Zagreb).

Beside playing and teaching Ádám dedicated himself to research; his field is the role of the trombone in Austrian music from the 18th century. Over the past few years, Ádám has visited several libraries and archives in Austria and Hungary searching for unpublished music from this era. Currently he is preparing modern editions of works he has discovered.
